1. Slide-Mounted Optics (Red Dots): MCK 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 (Gen 1 & Gen 2 vs. Gen 3)
One of the most frequent questions shooters ask is whether they can keep their optic mounted to their slide when inserting their pistol into an MCK. The answer depends heavily on the generation of your chassis:
- MCK 1.0 and 2.0 (Gen 1 & Gen 2) Chassis System: These versions rely on a tight internal slide clearance and a specialized charging handle that fits directly over the slide serrations. Because of this snug fit, slide-mounted optics (e.g., RMR, Holosun, Doctor footprints) must be removed before inserting the pistol. On 1.0 and 2.0 models, red dots or holographic sights are mounted directly to the MCK’s top Picatinny rail instead.
- MCK 3.0 (Gen 3) Chassis -The Game Changer: The MCK 3.0 revolutionized MCK design by introducing a wide internal slide pocket and an updated charging handle system. MCK 3.0 (MCK Gen 3) allows you to run most slide-mounted red dots directly on your handgun. - MCK 1.0 (Gen 1): Does not support tall suppressor-height sights. Attempting to force a slide with high profile sights into a 1.0 frame can scratch the sight channel or cause the slide to bind.
- MCK 2.0 and 3.0 (Gen 2 & Gen 3): Both generations feature redesigned internal channels specifically engineered to accommodate high-profile suppressor-height sights effortlessly. All MCK 2.0 and 3.0’s are suppressor friendly.
3. Barrel & Slide Limitations: Crucial Safety Warning
CRITICAL WARNING: No Ported Barrels or Compensator Slides
No MCK 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0 (Gen 1, Gen 2, or Gen 3) is compatible with ported barrels, slide-integrated compensators, or slide ports.
When a pistol with barrel ports or compensators is fired inside an MCK, burning gunpowder gases and extreme pressure vent directly upward and sideways inside the sealed chassis. This hot high-pressure gas will rapidly melt, erode, and severely damage the MCK’s internal polymer frame and charging mechanism.
Always use standard, solid-top barrels and unported slides inside your MCK.
